I am passionate and eager to give back to our community and our city that has given me and my family so much. Being rooted in this community, I want to ensure that our next generations will have a quality of life that we enjoy and continue to improve together today.
If elected to the San Jose City Council, I will bring my Economics background and successful business experience as well as energy, enthusiasm, passion, and creativity to help solve complex problems facing our district and our city as a whole. The following are some of the highlights of the important issues in our district that I will strive to achieve if I have the honor of serving you.
Neighborhood Safety

Nothing is worse than an up-tick in crime while public safety is undercut. If elected, I will work to ensure that public safety is considered the highest priority in our city budget and that our city will invest in more police for our neighborhoods. Furthermore, I’ll work to expand the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force program in the intervention and prevention of youth joining gangs. I’ll also create a Safe Neighborhood Initiative to ensure that our neighborhoods are well-lit and are not an attraction for crime activities, in addition to promoting the expansion of the Neighborhood Watch Program.

Traffic Congestion

District 7 has experienced serious traffic congestion problems and can only get worse as our population grows. As councilman, with my creativity and problem solving skills, I will work with our county and state level agencies to channel the proper funding to widen our freeway exits and as well as fixing potholes on our streets to keep pace with the ever changing demands.

Community Empowerment
 |
In order to improve the quality of life of our residents, we must have community voice and inputs in order for our managed growth to best suit the needs and concerns our residents. If elected, I will strive to improve upon the neighborhood groups’ infrastructure to support and to promote them to self-sustainability. We must empower our community to work and to take part in improving our neighborhoods by getting more of our neighbors involved.

Jobs Creation & Managed Growth

We need to creatively and selectively attract large and medium businesses to our city to create jobs and boost tax revenue. The Hi-tech jobs are not coming back. We need to support low-tech businesses such as retail to create more jobs. I will also strive to promote and support emerging technologies such as solar energy/green companies. I will strive to create a viable Managed Growth Plan to balance and optimize the resources we have to improve the quality of life of our residents.

Fiscal Responsibility

The reality is we continue to spend more than we take in. This trend cannot continue.
While I don’t believe that we can cut our way out of an economic recession we must
become more fiscally responsible. I support the Mayor’s plan to reduce public
employees’ salaries, to increase public employee contributions to their benefit programs
and to put a cap on retirement pensions. However I would add to the Mayors’ plan by
requiring all those city employees making over $130,000 to take a 12% pay cut. I believe
our leaders must lead and show that they are willing to sacrifice even more than our rank and file employees.
We can’t afford to continue on the same path we have been on for some many years. It’s time for a change.

Open & Honest Governance

I believe that our government needs to be transparent and openly accessible to the public. I will work to ensure that our city government will inform our residents of all issues coming to the council and allow ample time for our community to give feedback as well as fair opportunities to voice our opinions on matters pertaining to our community. Our government should be honest and reflect the voice of the people it serves.

More After School Programs

I will strive to work with school districts to implement and promote more after school academic and sports programs to ensure that our children won’t be influenced by gang and violence. I understand this issue most because after school education and activities were what kept me in line and away from bad influences to get to where I am today. I understand that while parents are busy trying to make ends meet and to support their families, their children need to be cared for and must be ensured that they are safe and away from gang and violence.
