Dear Neighbors,
My name is Minh Duong, and I've lived in San Jose for nearly 20 years. I am a product of local public schools and graduated from Leyva Junior High and W.C. Overfelt High School at the top of my class. I'd earned a Bachelor's degree from U.C. Berkeley in the fields of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics.
I love San Jose and chose to make it my home. I am running because like most people in District 7, I believe that we need a change in our District 7 leadership. For the last 5 years, the leadership in office is only interested in serving special interest groups at the taxpayers' expense. While taxpayers are being taxed more than ever to pay for unsustainable benefits and wages, residents are experiencing tremendous cut back on city services. Nevertheless, our current leadership continues to allow out-of-state and local special interest groups to control city politics and waste millions of taxpayer money for their own personal agenda.
This needs to stop! I am committed to bringing changes to our district. With my entrepreneurial experience, I will focus on creating more jobs by retaining existing businesses while attracting and supporting new businesses by streamlining the permitting process; so businesses will thrive; hence create more jobs while boosting tax revenue for our city. By having more money, we can bring back those essential services that were cut due to irresponsible spending controlled by special interest groups. It's time for a change. It's time to take back city hall and not allow business as usual at the taxpayers' expense.
